November 26th, 2014

Following the agreement signed last June between Saint-Gobain Glass and Nippon Electric Glass Co., Ltd (NEG) and the approval of the relevant competition authorities, Saint-Gobain Glass has become a shareholder of a joint venture with NEG. Under the name “OLED Material Solutions Co, Ltd”, this joint venture is held 60% by NEG and 40% by Saint-Gobain K.K., the Group’s Japanese subsidiary. With a total equity of 700 million yen, the venture was launched to develop, manufacture and sell glass substrates based on a glass frit coated in IEL (Internal Extraction Layer) for organic light emitting diode (OLED) lighting.

Further improvement of luminous efficiency is a key factor in the development of the OLED lighting market. Through this partnership, Saint-Gobain continues to extend its range of high-performance solutions for the world of lighting and visual comfort, thus contributing to the development of sustainable, comfortable and energy-saving habitat.
